xt2005bonbon
It MAY be possible to remove the door panel from the inside? It will probably be a pain, but worth trying.
tehspud
Check out posts 5 & 6 from this. Looks like your best bet is using a thin flexible piece of metal or plastic to push the child lock back to "free" from the inside. https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/2005-outback-rear-passenger-door-mechanism-snapped-child-lock-engaged.96362/
xt2005bonbon
Yeah, looks like it is going to work. Very nice.
Pleides
I'm no genius but having replaced the door lock actuator back there, I'm pretty sure you could have plenty of access to take the door apart if you took the seat bottoms out. Could be wrong.
1-3-2-4
Finally got it fixed but what is the reason why I can't open the door from the outside but the inside it works fine?
Pleides
If you take apart the door you'll see how the latch mechanism works. The exterior door handle mechanism on your car either disconnected or broke. Pretty common problem on these cars.
1-3-2-4
Yeah I tried to take the door card off but for some reason I had a hard time trying to finally get it off something near the inside door latch.
58Tucker
I should have taken pictures when I fixed mine. Rear driver side door. Once I got the child lock undone with a flexible piece of plastic sheet, I found that the exterior latch had a lever broken off. It was easy to see where it was broken. After drilling and pinning the broken lever for mechanical support, I used some Quickseal Metal Reppair epoxy to form the lever back to the broken area. The shape is the duplicated on opposite end of the handle, so you know what it is supposed to look like. I did all that 'cause I'm cheap, had the time, and the stuff on hand. Of course it would have been easier to install a new handle. $40 on ebay. Works great now, and I dare say that with the pinned reinforcement, stronger than new.
