kero
Hey Guys, It's been a while since I posted. My 2016 legacy premium has about 80K miles on it now. I was doing an oil change the other day and was checking things and noticed what appears to be an oil leak (not sure what else it could be) towards the back of the engine, passenger side, more towards the top of the engine. Needless to say not a happy camper about this considering the lowish miles. Any thoughts on where this may be coming from and possible cause. My regular warranty and extended warranty have expired. Is this something I should call subaru about? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
PATS4LIFE
My advice is to clean it up,then just keep checking if it comes back. do you do your oil change?maybe you or whoever did the oil change could've spilled some oil during refilling. wait nvmd you said passenger side so refilling spill is out,but ya just clean it up and just keep checking and see if it'll come back. could be your valve cover gasket. kero
Yep definitely not from doing oil changes as I do them myself. Hard place to get in and clean to be honest. Had many subies in the past and was hoping to not have to deal with any oil leaks like in past models. To me the mileage is a bit low for oil leaks to start but sh*t happens I guess. Just curious if others have this type of leak going on in similar year cars. Thanks
silverton
It's extremely common. It likely needs a cam carrier reseal.
Grnlantern1
Could be Valve Cover.. My 15' 3.6r still looks good.. Keep us posted.. Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
OneFore9
Agree on the cam carrier. As Silverton posted, seems to be somewhat common. My 2018 started leaking at less than 25,000 miles, driver's side. Fixed under warranty. Been keeping an eye on it since. So far, no other leaks.
kero
Thanks everyone. I guess I will just keep an eye on it as there is no point in getting something like that fixed.
