Legacy20161657616313
I have a 2016 2.5 Legacy with 38k miles. The battery was replaced in April before we purchased the car. After purchasing we noticed a vibration/ shudder when stopping and the rpms would dip. Took it in and they replaced the tensioner and seemed to work. A couple days later the vibration started again. We took it back and they addressed an issue with the differential and did a update for the transmission. Seemed to work but after about 30 minutes we could feel the vibration again. Took it back again and the master tech said it was the torque converter. They replaced it and within 30 minutes of driving the vibration is still there. A tech drove with is this last time and he felt the vibration. It stayed for a week and they came back with "transmission fluid level was low". They topped it off and said it was fixed. So now it still has the vibration in drive/reverse and is most noticeable with the ac on. The service manager basically said they don't want to deal with it anymore. Any help is appreciated. Summary Been in shop 5 times for vibration while in gear. Replaced torque converter Transmission computer update and differential service Replaced tensioner Topped off transmission fluid Issue is still there and not getting fixed. Service manager is a douche who is arrogant and doesn't want to hear your opinion of what the issue could be. Legacy20161657616313
Forgot to mention that the issue progressively get worse the more you drive. Not sure where to go from here. The service manager wants another ride along. I tried to mention the ac issue but he blew me off.

If the car was used it still should be under warranty maybe push for a CVT Replacement.. Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
aki334
I am trying to figure out the connection between the serpentine belt tensioner that Subaru replaced and your problem. What I think they did with tensioner is they were trying to be cheap and only do 30% of the recommended TSB for alternator. There is a TSB that suggests replacing alternator, tensioner and belt. Search on Amazon you can find new alternator for $191 with tax and delivery. Replace the belt also since it is very easy to do. If that does not fix you can return it to Amazon and get your money back. I only returned it because I was able to clean my old one and the one from Amazon was constantly at 14.33V but the car was not shaking any more. I wish you best luck. Please keep us posted. Legacy20161657616313
I'm going back to the dealer Wednesday. They have had the car 5 times for probably about 3 weeks. They keep saying say the shake is gone but are only driving it about 5 minutes. It's completely random. Sometimes it takes driving for awhile to get it to do it and sometimes it does it right away. They say there are no codes and that everything is in range while it's hooked up to the computer.
aki334
Drain CVT oil, remove the cvt oil pan, clean pan and magnet, remove the filter and wash it from the side where the O ring is, then blow with compressed air from the same direction. Put new CVT F-II . Buy 7 quarts, you will need 6.5quarts with filter removal. Then you will come here and thank me I had the same problem and did this myself. You will love your car again. THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY ON CVT. But as you can see dealerships are either unable to repair it because they do not know what to do, or they are just playing dumb, and at the end we are stuck with bad performing vehicles. Note: there are two filters in our TR 580 cvt, you do not need to buy new because the one in the oil pan is serviceable (washable). Do not buy the paper inline filter because you will need to disassemble trans to get to it. So make sure the oil pan, magnet and filter are spotless. If you need more details pm me.
