Airbag recall 09 legacy, how long are recalls good for?

Hello all,

 

About 6 months ago I've acquired a legacy and impreza both with open airbag recalls, how long are recalls available for?

 

The legacy was hit before so it's apparently considered a rebuilt title but would that prevent me from getting the recall on the legacy or no? That was in 2013 and the recall was in 2014, no airbags were deployed during that accident.

The recalls are perpetually available. You should do them as airbags don’t last forever. They will, however, require your dash to be disassembled and it won’t go back together like new, so it may rattle or not fit right.

LOL. The dash rattled it’s way off the assembly line on every 4th gen ever!

I can't imagine the airbag recall expiring, as recently as last year they released a new one I think, to replace temporary airbags which were installed, at least that's how I interpret it.

Strangely enough, (finding wood to knock on), mine has never rattled. The monkeys at SOA will NEVER replace my airbags nor will I ever have the dash replaced, even if it becomes sticky.

 

 

I told the SOA rep that he could give me the airbag and I would install it myself and return the replaced bags, and he told me "you wouldn't know how to replace them". I laughed in his face and told him that I forgot more about Subarus than he'll ever know and walked out.

had airbags replaced twice AND sticky dash replaced. ZERO rattles and still 100% factory fitment Thanks SOA. Sorry to those who experience otherwise but my experiences has always been 100 with them.
