Surfcast23
I purchased a vf52 to install in my 2006 Legacy GT pre-covid. The original turbo died recently so I has the vf52 out in today. Seeing how covid has cut my income in more than half (bartend) I really can't afford a tune, but don't want to destroy the engine either. Can I forgo the tune if I don't drive it aggressively? Thanks
ttnio
sure, i wouldn't drive it at all. you can set up a base tune with a tuner until you're ready for the the tune. a tuner can help you likely.

shralp
If you stayed out of the boost you’d probably be fine but the smarter bet would be to put a tune on your credit card and call it done. It’s going to hit you a lot harder in the wallet if you blow something
Artizan
No bueno. Only if you replaced it with an identical turbo. Otherwise, you absolutely have to tune, or it'll cost you a lot more than just a tune PLUS a tune still.

Surfcast23
Thanks guys. I will keep it out of boost and drive as little as possible, luckily work is only three miles away.
