nickfavicchio
The high rpms on the interstate and ground clearance are irritating me. In searching it seems like the spring pearches are the issue and in feeling around the front tires - yea, there is ZERO room for anything more in there. I'm assuming this has been addressed but couldn't figure it out via searching so posting for help. Stock 205/55/r16 have life left so I've got time to save up and figure this out but what are my options? A body lift wont help. Outback bits? Even just a 205/65 would prolly help but I don't see that fitting. Anywho, thoughts? Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk
whitetiger
The size of the tire increase you would need to improve both concerns would not fit without a suspension lift. You are out of luck otherwise.
nickfavicchio
All of the Subaru lift kits I see are spacers that attach at the top of the strut, so unless I'm missing something, that lift wont change the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the strut perch. So even a lift won't make room for more tire. Sooo... no options? If I spaced the wheels out I'd get some room but I don't want to go that way. RustyRuu
outback struts have taller spring perches on the strut. you could use the same springs if you wanted the same height and your fenders will hate you but should "self clearance" after a while or go outback spring. nickfavicchio
Some bad pictures of my car (2002 gt) and wife's 2001 Outback and yea, now I see. Don't want to jinx it, but looks like something of a straightforward swap? Although I'm surprised that the outback tire is only a 60 vs 55 on the gt. Is the Baja spring perch taller still? Alignment will need to be done after I assume, but I'm thinking all this should be done at the same time new tires go on. Something i might be missing that would keep this from working? LegacyTresdos
Did you ever get around to swapping the suspension was wondering the same thing or does anyone know if it's as easy as just switching out the old legacy strut and spring assembly for new outback strut and spring assembly? KSKarl
Just went through this on my Baja - but the other direction. Rreplaced the original struts with Legacy to lower the little truck. Here's a pic of the struts side by side. Edited May 8, 2020 by KSKarl

akivat1356
Just put 17 inch rims from a 2016 brz on my 2004 Legacy sedan 35th anniversary, where the stock rims are 16in. Its sitting on stock suspension with no lifts or spacers. No rubbing or scraping at all. When putting bigger rims on you have to remember that the car is going to sit higher than sitting on stock rims which is going to give it more space.
