Jadu108 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Im a dumbass >.< but the question is... can i change the strut mount without needing to compress the spring? i kinda want to just swap the strut mount from my old assembly(still decent) with it in the car. thanks
Jadu108 Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 No! The spring must be compressed. thanks! i will try to get a compressor tool then :\
doublechaz Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Last I noticed you could rent them at parts stores.
Jadu108 Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 Last I noticed you could rent them at parts stores. yeah. i got a ride to the Autozone in the morning... just irritated cause i was SOOO close to being done and i got carried away ive put more work into this car than any previous owner, and ive ended up doing most things twice, usually for a defective part, not me being a derp... oh well.
doublechaz Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 I forget how low the torque spec is for those bolts, but it is lower than you'd think. Mostly the spring pressure holds that stuff in place, the bolts just keep them from shifting around over time.
Jadu108 Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 14 foot pounds i believe... i honestly thought they would have been closer to 30 or so
Jadu108 Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 was a total pain in the ass to do, but got it done... there just really isnt enough coils on the spring to get the whole assembly back together easily
doublechaz Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I must have had a different compressor or I accidentally hit a different way to do it. I didn't have any difficulty. That was three years ago, so I can't even say just how I did it.
