LegacyGTof5 Posted June 28, 2019 Share Posted June 28, 2019 Hello all, I have a 98 LGT and have been having an issue with intermittent misfire. Car does not get driven much, but now needs a smog and cannot smog until this issue is resolved. Issue is, it starts and idles fine, but during driving, if I put in the clutch and let engine drop to idle while stopping, its fine. If I down shift while stopping, it will then misfire and throw a cel. At any point during stopping if I shut engine off and restart immediately, after restart the engine runs smooth again with no misfire. This only happens if I downshift while coming to a stop. doublechaz Posted June 28, 2019 Share Posted June 28, 2019 Assuming it isn't past due for a tuneup, I'd pull the timing covers and see if you might have jumped one tooth.
