DrD123 Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I didn't realize that! I may have inadvertently put mine through the washing machine - noticed when I heard it clunking in the dryer - pulled it out and it still worked, so I figured I should take it apart and dry it out - the module where the electronics live is protected with a silicone gasket - I didn't realize that! It was bone dry inside! (I guess if you have changed the battery in yours you would know that, but after over 7 years, mine still works just fine...)
Scubaboo Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Good to know! What sucks are the internals. Battery contacts like to break at the PCB connection. When they do the clicker intermitently or not at all.
YeuEmMaiMai Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 well it is not water proof but it is water resistant as there is a rubber part that goes over the circuit board that seals it into the back half of the case and provides resistance to the buttons when pressed... most key fobs are this way by design...even my old 2002 CL type S had this type of setup...
FLlegacy Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 You could coat it with plastidip and then it would be waterproof...
ripstik Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 I never even considered that they might not be water proof, mine has ended up underwater more than few times, and at 7 years old i still haven't changed the batteries.
