Recommended Posts

All flashing lights on the dash and code reader states bank one o2 sensor id faulty.

Curious which one is bank one.

Is it the one visible below the intake filter or the one slightly to the rear also visible from the engine compartment?

Also are the interchangable as I already replaced the front thinking it is bank one.

The lights didnd quit.

Thanks for anyones help.;(

Best regards

Scott

This is from the 2010 legacy 2.5 service manual. The car is telling you there is an issue in the wiring between the ECM and the upstream 02 sensor

E: DTC P0032 HO2S HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH (BANK 1 SENSOR 1)

DTC DETECTING CONDITION:

• Immediately at fault recognition

• GENERAL DESCRIPTION <Ref. to GD(H4SO)-15, DTC P0032 HO2S HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT

HIGH (BANK 1 SENSOR 1), Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Detecting Criteria.>

Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)

ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS)

Step Check Yes No

1 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND

FRONT OXYGEN (A/F) SENSOR CONNECTOR.

1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2) Measure the voltage between ECM and

chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B136) No. 5 (+) — Chassis ground (–):

(B136) No. 6 (+) — Chassis ground (–):

Is the voltage 10 V or more? Repair the short

circuit of harness

to power supply

between ECM and

front oxygen (A/F)

sensor connector.

Go to step 2.

2 CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT FOR ECM.

1) Disconnect the connector from ECM.

2) Measure the resistance between ECM and

chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B134) No. 3 — Chassis ground:

(B134) No. 4 — Chassis ground:

(B134) No. 6 — Chassis ground:

(B137) No. 1 — Chassis ground:

(B137) No. 3 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 5 ? Repair the poor

contact of ECM

connector.

Repair the harness

and connector.

NOTE:

In this case, repair

the following item:

• Open circuit of

harness between

ECM and engine

ground

• Poor contact of

coupling connector

I attached a .pdf of the pages

Usually the pre-heater goes open circuit but the O2 sensor itself still works.

This is really not a big problem in itself, however you really want the engine checklight to stay off in case there another separate problem develops..

heater circuit on bank 1 sensor 1 (AFR sensor) of my GF's 3.6 outback went out, relatively common if your taking a lot of short trips and not really getting up to temp. you will see reduced gas mileage until the sensor itself warms up, but that's about it. on subies bank 1 is the passenger side because japan, but i think the 2.5i's only have one set of oxygen sensors.
