stuartm
My obxt spun a bearing a few years ago because of a family member running it low on oil. Im finally getting around to looking at it. Im fairly handy with tools and i have decided that in an effort to save a bit of money im going to take the motor out myself and assess the damage. If its simply a spun bearing is it reasonable to say that the block half's are maybe ok and a rebuild would be cheaper than a short block? Also am i going to have to have my vf52 sent out and rebuilt now, does not seam like its worth risking any internal damage or metal flakes coming back to haunt me later. Ive already been pricing out upgraded internals and have a local engine shop that can re assemble with new parts. Im in canada and a factory shortblock here is really expensive and no better from the states with our dollar right now.

rhd gvr4
Why does Subaru make rod bearing clearaces so tight? So they can sell more dealer shortblocks!
