New guy rebuilding motor

Recommended Posts

(I believe I posted this in the wrong place the first time so let’s see if I get this right the secomd time)

I’m new to forums and I don’t really know how this works. I’m looking for some advice. I have an 07 legacy gt with a bad motor. I’m looking to buy new heads and get the bottom end inspected and replace whatever needs replacing. Can anyone on here tell me which heads will work with this motor? I believe it’s the ej255. I’ve heard that some of the ej20 heads are compatible. Which would be the best heads to replace the existing, and hopefully get some extra power with? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks to anyone in advance that has some advice for me. And for those that just want to put me on blast for posting in the wrong spot.....like I said I’m new to this forum stuff so be easy

Na, your post in the 4th Gen forum will get more replies.

This seems to be more for those of us that know what to do. If the MOD's want they can move that thread here at any time.

Read the sticky's here and the next forum down, lots of info there.

EJ257 pistons on B/V25 STi head: 8.28:1

EJ257 pistons on D25 WRX head: 8.78:1

EJ257 pistons on S20 WRX head: 8.88:1

EJ255 pistons on B/V25 STi head: 8.11:1

EJ255 pistons on D25 WRX head: 8.55:1

EJ255 pistons on S20 WRX head: 8.68:1

this might help you out... regardless, if you change the head you'll need to get a tune to make up for the change in compression.

If I remember correctly, the '07+ came with D25 heads on an EJ255 and the '05-'06 came with B25 heads on an EJ257 but I could be mistaken.

I seem to recall when I had 500 miles on my ej257, after the tune was for the ej255, plus having the heads ported, Mike said there really wasn't much of an adjustment needed in the tune for the different compression.

Still its better to have it checked and be sure and safe.
