Too heavy.

They should make a 1st gen Eclipse again to see the 4G63 out of production (this is the last year or two for it)

Find old moldings/reproduce them. Toss them on a chopped Lancer chassis (2 seater)

Toss in cheap interior.

Use a simple (non electronic) AWD system.

Toss in warmed-over 4G63 and Evo parts.

Sell for 24K, aim for 2800 pound weight. Let the tuners go wild.

The general reviews among the die-hard DSM-crowd, me included ;) , are favorable - however, we fear:

(1) Weight - and what that's going to say about handling. Certainly, a big enough turbo will push this car forward with no problems :D , but there's nothing that'll spoil handling more than being a porker.

(2) Whether or not this concept will see production.

I'd hit it - it makes me feel good as a DSMer.

I didnt read into it, is actually gonna be a DSM? or a regular eclipse motor?

could this be the rebirth of DSM?

Not a "true DSM," per se. :) But bearing the revered "Eclipse" name, the Triple-Diamonds, and a turbo'ed 4G63, we're proud, nonetheless. :)

lets just say, that they did put a true DSM (diamond star motors) in the new eclipse, and lightened it, it would be serious competition for the EVO. I dont forsee mitsu releasing this car. it would kill their EVo sales.

Very interesting point - and a good one, to-boot. Even renowned DSM tuners like Mr. Buschur are moving on to the Evos as their main products, given their potential, as well as the "age" of the 1G and 2G DSM platforms.

This might be an interesting "bow-out" item for Mitsu, though, in terms of wrapping up the turbocharged-4G63 era.

But as with you, many of us are skeptical at this point - same with the RalliArt Galant.

Looks to be interesting concepts that will likely bleed down some parts/accessories as an option package or two to the production line, but exactly how much will come, who knows.

Yeah, bro, me too. :) She might not be the original, and she might look a bit like the Audi TT, but she does look hot enough to lick. :)
