Stock turbo died at 176K

Recommended Posts

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that a vacuum line got cracked or was popped off during the turbocharger replacement.

Bingo. Car is 100% better now.

Should I still to 500 mile oil change even though there were no metal shavings in oil and the turbo already has 50k miles on it. Or should I stick to 3k OCI?

USED OIL ANALYSIS! Why this isn't recommended more I don't know.

If you want to know whether the turbo allowed metal into the oil before disassembling a motor/oil pan, used oil analysis.

If you want to know whether the motor is healthy after turbo break-in, used oil analysis.

If you want to know whether your newly installed motor is ready to go to a regular oil change interval, used oil analysis.

If you want to check yearly motor health, used oil analysis.

Blackstone labs will perform such a service to the tune of $25. I'm pulling my yearly sample in about 1k miles.
