vwgetta18 Posted January 22, 2018 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Changed my battery on Saturday afternoon drove and started fine but yesterday after driving my check engine light came on solid and the cruise control light is flashing on the dash Any one know what this could be? After doing research it seems like it could be the p0420 as I don't have a scanner to check it. Please help could I disconnect battery to clear the code or what should I do? Wasted Potential Posted January 22, 2018 Share Posted January 22, 2018 CEL always comes on in conjunction w/ flashing cruise. I believe. You can disconnect the battery to reset all monitors; just be aware if it comes back on your most likely have a problem. I'd say go to a parts store and use their free scanner to scan it yourself. Write down the code, go home and disconnect the battery, then drive and see if it comes on (and if it is the same code) or if it does not come back on.
