legacy2005
nice, sounds pretty good, great/easy way to mod the car and get some sound out of it. the lgt's are way to quite stock. Work hard. Play even harder. My Garage
BrownBoy
good job man. looks nice. sounds nice. have you tried a panel filter in your stock intake to see if there were any noticeable gains? I would do this if it was proven worthwhile...
ldc2335
no , didnt try panel filter due to the fact that if you take off the stock setup and look inside you'll see that it is extremely restrictive...you may see some results, but not near what you'd see with this....this setup rocks only downfall (to somepeople) would be the noise... plus a panel filter cost about the same as the whole intake kit i bought....($50) not including the K&N which i already had, this whole setup cost me about $80...not to bad
ldc2335
wow...thought i would get more response off this topic.... so far im very pleased....mpg's have gone up from 22 avg city to 24.5 avg city /// 30 to 33.9 avg hwy so that itself is sweet power gains are very noticable and throttle response is waaaaayyyyy better...pretty much drives like a whole new car... stanjk3
I know the pain, there were very few mods for the Grand Am the first couple years. Compared to a Civic, it's still a very limited aftermarket. There was an SC available, but the tranny isn't strong enough to last for more than a couple years - if that. Mine died not even 50 miles after the extended warranty expired. Here's all the mods I've done to my GA: http://www.n-body.net/registry/stanjk3/ Friends don't let friends drink cheap beer. Garandman
What were the before and after 0-60 or 40-80 times? Or did you take performance data before you made the change? Lengthenin the induction tract like that would usually increase low end torque at the expense of maximum power, but you may still be able to flow enough air that it didn't hurt. ldc2335
i have since taken the intake off,,,something was wrong with the maf sensor/adapter, when the weather got colder i started getting a rough idle, guess it was running to lean....so im gonna get a panel filter and route the pipe from the stock airbox to the throttle body...should work great... no 0-60's were taken...sorry

Xantium
Is it safe to use abs piping for an intake? I know you're not supposed to use pvc. I'd like to make something similar to that but dont want to buy 2 different intakes for pieces.
