not12listen
When I am driving my wife's 98 Outback, I can hear what sounds like 'air hissing' from the center console. This sound is only present when I am on the throttle - be it gentle or not. Has any one else experienced this?
Setnev
Is it a manual transmission?
Brighton96
May just be an exhaust leak, that exhaust tubing is right under the floor so that could make a hissing sound and it would only be noticeable under acceleration if the leak was small enough. There's nothing in the console that can make any real noise so it has to be something else.
not12listen
yes, manual transmission. there is absolutely an exhaust leak. i've replaced every gasket when i removed the OBX header and put the factory parts back on. i do not believe this is an exhaust leak, as the sound is behind the center console vents (which i will be replacing this weekend).
