fullerslgt
So I just had my engine rebuilt and with the forged internals I've read a cold startup can be loud but should go away after warmed up. Is the slapping noise going to completely go away or just quiet down? Mine still seems a bit loud even after warmed up and driven.
MilesA
It will be louder at cold startup time, especially in cold weather. This is due to clearances since those pistons require more allowance for thermal expansion. Once fully warmed up, the noise will decrease but it will probably always be somewhat louder than stock. A mild ticking sound is not unusual.
fullerslgt
Well then perhaps everything is ok and I'm a worry wart. Thanks.
kmills1
I share that same worry, but I guess we'll have to have faith that what we are reading about the piston slap is true.
