2010 Legacy Shift lock solenoid click. Not while driving

Recommended Posts

The other day I was shifting out of park, pressed the brake and heard a click. It doesn't click when I'm driving or slowing down as others have experienced.

It only does it when pressing the brake while in park.

Solenoid part # (I think) - 35173AJ001

How can I replace this part? Do I have to remove those 4 bolts in each corner of the shift assembly? Can I just loosen them and slide this out?

I removed led bulbs from brake lights and my issue also gone

Interesting. I'll give that a try. I put in led's too. That's about the same time my shift inter-lock started clicking. Just when in idling in"P" position...repeatedly clicking like it's confused.

Would the shift inter-lock solenoid be covered under 60k powertrain warranty?...I have less than 100 miles until 60k.

Update: It is considered a normal wear and tear part...not covered under warranty.
