06SubLegTx
Hello, I just spent a lot of money on head work because of a failed tensioner. All new Gaskets, Seals, Valves. I had the injectors cleaned and all new o-rings. The day before the tension broke I filled the car with 93 octane fuel and injection cleaner to the tank before the tensioner broke. I want to drain the old gas and injection cleaner that has been in the car for over a month and a half. I have try to get a hose down there the filler neck with no luck. Is there another way? KRM
Remove the plastic undercover from both sides of the gas tank. There's a drain bolt just underneath them.
Gex
Month and a half? You're fine. Mine sat for 6 months with 3/4 a tank while I did my rebuild and was just fine. Modern gas takes about a year to go bad.
Zachariahc
^Agree. Alternatively. Is it possible to disconnect a fuel line and just run the pump?
Gex
Pump will only cycle for 2 seconds with key in on position. Get maybe a cup. Needs engine rpm for more.
apexi
Interesting.. I was kind of curious about this too. Subaru told me that they had to drain half my tank (from full) when they replaced my cracked fuel pump housing, and I was wondering how I would have done that if I had done it myself. If you connect the green test connectors and put the key in the on position but don't start it. Won't the pump run continuously? I feel like I've either heard of this method or heard the pump before flashing maps.
