Bassman007
How long can one drive with a faulty center differential?? Mine has been bad for a couple of months now. Runs fine on straight road, but during intricate turns I get the binding.
BBPeik
The longer it is in there the more bits of junk that will be floating around inside there. I would replace it asap. You can replace it pretty easy with the trans in the car. I have all my parts sitting around if you need any reference pics. My someday I will be done with it thread. dgoodhue
Runs fine on straight road, but during intricate turns I get the binding. When an AWD transfer case is locked, something has to give, either the tires will slip and/or likely find the weakest link in the AWD. My AWD truck has a viscous coupler like the MT Subaru have. The VC is a sealed unit, when they lock the plates inside the VC fuse together. Because its a sealed unit it does not contaminate anything else, I imagine Subaru are the same way. The common is failure in my truck from a lock VC is broken front passenger axle or damaged front differential.
ehsnils
It's not good to drive around with a binding clutch pack, it can crack or break other parts of the transmission. Fix as soon as possible.
