Footie
Successfully programmed an 09 Legacy integrated remote key/key fob/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for my 2003 Legacy. P/N: 57497AG48A Ordered from amazon for $60 I was worried it wouldn't work because it was so much newer, but I programmed it as if it was an 03 fob and it works beautifully. RumbleRumble
Nice! I've seen this done before but never for a older gen subaru. I'd give it a try if I can find a nice used one.
Footie
Best part is, I didnt have to really DO anything. Just programmed it to unlock/lock the doors, and get it cut. I'm not really sure what an immobilizer is, but I didnt have to mess with it at all to get it to work with my car
YeuEmMaiMai
the newer keys have a chip that identifies the key to the car. if the car has the key in it's internal memory, it will allow the car to start. If not, no crank, no start on most implementations...

Footie
Yea, I just youtubed it. It's a funny key sequence. Something like putting your key in, turning on and off 10x and then hitting the unlock button and opening and shutting the door. Worked first try

kenmopo
Any idea if this will work on a 98 Legacy? Subaru has the part number key from the OP's thread for $78. Amazon for $40.
