sdgarber
How did Subaru manage to eliminate the rocky idle that is a characteristic of the boxer engine design :?: My Legacy GT idles a smoothly as any powertrain I have experienced. I have fond recallections about the gentle rocking from the boxer engine in my former WRX.

axis008
Or maybe the equal length headers? I have no idea, but those sure quiet the car down. -ben
squirrel-bait
My 2.5 RS is a smooth idler, too. Once it warms up, anyway. One time I actually tried starting it when it was already running. Doh! sqrl b8

Ken S
engine mounts.. Keefe
Yup -- liquid filled bushings. They do wonders in dampening vibrations. I've seen a Legacy GT running at a dealership with the hood open. The car was so low on gas that the engine was stuttering and gyrating on it's mounts. The amazing thing was that the chassis was dead still during this whole thing. Ken
