CoopMcNasty
Hey All, its been a while since Ive been on the forum, but felt the need to jump on and get some advice to see if anybody has had a similar issue. Ive got a 2009 Legacy 2.5i Manual transmission and I believe the center differential is going bad. I get a whining sound after the car is warmed up that gets worse with higher speeds, as well as clunking while making parking lot speed turns. Also get a grumble/rumble during acceleration past 3k RPM. It has me very frustrated as the car just touched over 90k. Just checking to see if anybody else has experienced this, and what a reasonable price would be to get it replaced before I start calling around. Thanks guys! :spin::spin::spin::spin::spin::spin::spin:
dgoodhue
If the center differential is failing, you may want to check your tire diameter and tread depth are similar front to rear, to make sure that isn't the root cause of your center differential failure. I Donated Too sigmafour Posted January 17, 2017 I Donated Too Share Posted January 17, 2017 If your own diagnosis is correct... http://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru__/CENTER-DIFFERENTIAL-ASSEMBLY/49248160/38913AA102.html The center diff can be changed with the trans still on the car and it costs shy of $600 so with labor... <shrugs> but under a grand seems reasonable. It shouldn't take more than 4 hours if someone knows what they are doing.
