Engine break-in after head gaskets?

Recommended Posts

My car is almost completely put back together after a head gasket job. Nothing mechanical inside the engine was replaced, since everything looked good.

The pistons and cylinder walls got cleaned up and the new head gaskets are in and everything is sealed with ARP head studs. All other seals and gaskets that are included in a head gasket set were also replaced. I've also included a few other upgrades, but nothing to do with the engine.

I've searched the forums but can't find information on break-ins after just a head gasket change. Will I need to do a break in procedure once it is all finished? If so, I'm planning on using Castrol GTX 5w-30 and changing it at the break in intervals and then switching back to my normal oil, Rotella T6. Or is it fine to just continue using Rotella T6 without a break in period?

Thanks!
