scoobydrvr
I'm getting a sporadic CEL saying my left OCV is not functioning properly. I've confirmed this by watching the L and R values with my Access Port but it's not constant (like it was when the filters were clogged). Instead, if I give it the beans or race the engine in neutral, it seems to clear up at least temporarily. When the OCV fails, is it a hard, fast, kaput or is more like what I'm describing (only reading 0-2° then jumping to ~18 where it should be)? Max Capacity
OCV are fairly cheap. That one is easy to change, the left front right. Take it out, clean it, I think it needs a 9volt battery to move it if you want to test it. this may help http://people.csail.mit.edu/ilh/vacation/ 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. scoobydrvr
I've swapped sides on the OCV solenoids (cleaned them while I had them out) and the problem remains on the left. Seems like my problem is in the cam gear... Hopefully an oil change and some Rislone will chase out whatever is causing it to act up...
Max Capacity
Good luck. That sounds like a easy thing to do. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. scoobydrvr
Oil change took care of the OCV sync issue thankfully. Worryingly, there's a lot of non-ferrous glitter in the oil. I've put about 1600 miles on this rebuild and about 1000 on this oil change... I hope it's just the rings seating... still...
Max Capacity
The rings should be mostly seated by now. You might want to do a 500 mile oil & filter change and go to 1500 miles after that... 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). scoobydrvr
Yeah, I figured they should be seated by now too... I'll change it again soon and see how it looks.
