Coolant dye for 2.5XT

There are two lines in that area. going to and from the turbo. Tighten the hose clamps or re-adjust them.

There are two banjo bolts I believe on the center section, but I've not heard of them leaking.

I think you can get to them from the top. I just replaced my top hose a few weeks back. Dealer had to order it.

Haven't messed with the other hose lately. But, I think it just clamps a little lower then the hose on top. Pop the hood and take a look.

Found this by google search for a vf52 turbo. that other hose is the one that come around the bottom and out the passenger side.

The top hose is cut out of the picture.

So the coolant line look and feel good. They look too "clean" to be leaking and they were dry at the joints. This was 2 hrs after driving home and doing some errands where the car was warmed up.

But.

I noticed a lot of grunge under these two hoses.

I know the one with the metal shield {top one} goes to the Power Steering fluid tank, and the other one goes toward the front of the engine which I couldn't follow well before work called. I am imagine the lower ones is from the PS pump to the rack, and the other is a return to the tank?

I saw a lot of crud down low and took some more pictures with my camera in this album

Now, I originally though the leak was coolant because its kinda watery, and brownish/red, and smelled different to me {as in not oil, CV Grease}, and the coolant in the overflow tank was red, like Toyota "red" coolant.

This is left over from my coolant flush. I put in green peek 50/50 long life and planning on doing it again with Subaru coolant and conditioner soon. After draining the coolant, I only was able to put back in 1.5 gal, so I don't think being on ramps let it all drain out. Now after 200 miles though, I would expect a coolant mix to leak more "green" color so and I checked the garage floor again tonight and the leak is definitely red/brown.

So

Now I am wondering if the fluid is actually power steering fluid because of the crud down low on those hoses and the fluid in the tank is about the same color as it is on the floor. If I get the car on jack stands, would the pump be running if I turn the wheels to get fluid moving, or is this something that needs weight/resistance to engage the pump? The PS fluid is slightly above the "cold full" line, but I will be keeping an eye on that daily.

I left the turbo heat shield off and the under tray has been off. So hopefully my garage floor dries out and I can ramp her up and craw under there in a couple days to look at it with this in mind.

The different fluids have different smells. You need to learn what each of them smell like.

I find the PS fluid smells a lot like your behind a diesel truck.

Coolant has a sweet odder to it.

The CV grease stink's.

Definitely some grease coming out though I can't feel any tears or see any fluid dripping. . The axle boot by the transmission was dry which makes me think the PS leak is at the rack. I might have to have a second person help and turn the wheel while I am under there to really see where it is leaking from.
