Timing Belt

Recommended Posts

I am about to purchase the Gates timing belt kit with water pump, tensioner, and all pulleys for my 2005 LGT. I was wondering what your guys thought are on this kit? I must replace the belt though I am under on milage I am far over on time being the belt has never been replaced. I pulled back my timing cover and found deep cracks in the oem belt and will not start the car at this point. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Jeff

Currently the thought is don't buy Gates. There have been reports they have begun using cheaper parts for the tensioners.

My Gate water had to be replaced after 20,000 miles, it leaked out the weep hole.

Go to any auto parts store and buy the kit they sell. Or contact one of the trusted Vendors here and buy from them.

Tell us where you live, I tend to recommend someone close to you.

I really wish you would have posted this earlier. I did go with the gates kit, after a week of not driving my car I had to just get it done so I could be mobile again. Hopefully I wont have any problems! I have a picture of the crack of dealth that was in my old belt but cannot just load it off of my phone...
