birdmayne
Has anybody here had any luck rebuilding an EJ255 at 185K miles? I have read nearly every thread in this section, and it seems that most just buy a new short block after ~110K. I fully intend to buy a shortblock from my local dealership, I'm mainly curious about success rates of saving this high of mileage block. I wouldn't mind rebuilding it anyway and finding something to cram it in until it blows up all the way. I don't have any misfires, just minor lean stumble and a cold stumble. Still pulls hard and makes 12.5 psi (according to the gauge PO put in, so can't verify) I have built a handful of engines just never a boxer. xxBLOOD88SHOTxx
A few guys here have rebuilt them with success. It's more about convenience of just buying a short block that most people lean towards. Then saving their old shortblock for sleeves or selling it to someone with the intention to have it sleeved. I'm all for the convenience and out of the box reliability of an OEM short block. I will be amazed if everything isn't pounded out of round on the stock motor though. Dude, you're from the Palm Springs of WA? John Hancock
