randy_4tw Posted September 14, 2016 Share Posted September 14, 2016 So. I cant seem to find the specs anywhere on the the 2.5i mufflers vs the 2.5gt mufflers. I have searched youtube for sound clips and also saw the one video in the muffler clip compilation thread. That car had a 2.5gt catback and a modified 2.5gt header on it. I am interested in only putting the 2.5gt catback on the 2.5i. I know it won't have the rumble but I'm curious if it will give me a bit more sound? I would assume the muffler on the 2.5gt has less noise reduction material? Every video i find also has some type of UEL installed. Any info would be appreciated. GEE-OTTO Posted September 14, 2016 Share Posted September 14, 2016 The Y-pipes are identical the mufflers for the GT and 3.0R are slightly larger but share the same mounting locations. The tips are also different. Other than that you gain nothing by swapping. There are no gains, Catback wise, for a stock 2.5i the exhaust note will be virtually the same as well.
