Good Morning, , I recently bought an '05 Outback XT and drove it home 2000 miles so I think the transmission is good but has a strange noise I can't figure out. . . . When I put the car in reverse and start to accelerate I hear what I first thought was an exhaust leak but pulsating. . Doesn't matter if I actually back up or just put it in reverse, hold the brake and give it gas. . Almost sounds like the exhaust pipe hitting the floor. . I thought, motor mount but the engine sits firm. . Kinda like when a viscous coupling slips and jerks but that only happens in slow turns. . . . Sound familiar? ? Max Capacity Posted July 4, 2016 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Have you had a chance to get under the car and look things over ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs.
