fahr_side
You can install the later motor. Block the secondary air ports as suggested. If you have EGR on the original block those too. Use the oil lines that come with the WRX motor. The later heads have smaller combustion chambers. While CR is the same the engine needs, and will tolerate, less timing. Maps developed for the earlier motor will likely knock. The later heads like about 1 to 1.5* less timing overall. Sent from a device using some software. kmoleg05
I will be getting everything minus the turbo. I have a vf52. So i will basically just drop this entire motor in.. i was wondering if all the plugs and things will work. Im not planning on swapping heads i have a guy that wants my longblock now i want this to be as simple as possible. Ps what's a fair price for longblock with good heads and bad rings? fahr_side
I'd get both wiring diagrams out and check the pin outs on the main engine harness. Worst case scenario, you reuse your old harness. fahr_side
Haha. Just take your time. I call my GH8 a short-wheelbase gen4.5 LGT hatchback. So much in common. But, the LGT also changed a lot between '05 and '08. Sent from a device using some software. fahr_side
We should do a wiki on swaps as more owners start looking at motors from the Impreza and Forester lines as time goes on. kmoleg05
yea that info would sure be helpful. Just to have a resource of what motors swap in and the general process and difficulty of each swap. Then the individual could find the best option for their budget.
