triniexr
I have 2 gauges to install and I don't know where to put them. I don't want to put them in the cubby hole becuase I use it to hold stuff. I don't like the Perrin mouse ears, blocks so much of the gauges.
bdisco
A-pillar + air bag = flying gauges
triniexr
But the air bag doesn't come close to the a-pillar...
mmm def
Most of us don't want the A-pillar gauge here. I would imagine if you placed it low enough on the pillar you would be alright. Nobody makes a gauge pod that fits, you'll have to go custom or do the cubby or mouse ears.
AreEyeSeeKay
But the air bag doesn't come close to the a-pillar... The one in the steering wheel doesn't, but the A-pillar houses the side impact airbag.
mmm def
The one in the steering wheel doesn't, but the A-pillar houses the side impact airbag. There are pictures floating around the site that shows the airbag deployed, it does not go all the way down the pillar.
mccorry
+1... I have had the cover off... and the air bag does not go down into it. I have the AVO dash corner pod.
TSiWRX
^^^ +1 tennebrac was the LGTer who had the misfortune of wrecking his 6-day old LGT. http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=256718&postcount=80 He cites that the airbag is deployed from the B-pillar. In addition to this actual deployment confirmation, another member here has pulled the A-pillar trim in order to mount a single gauge there, akin to the "STi Genome" style. His review of the A-pillar also confirms that the side airbag module will not extend all the way down the pillar. This is in addition to brother mcorry's confirmation, too. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
triniexr
I like the look of the dual A-pillar gauge pod. If not there and not in the cubby hole, where else could I put these 2 gauges?
mmm def
Maybe someone could build you a pod in the vents? There are not a lot of options for gauges with this car. Some people have stuck them on top of the dash, one even hung it by the rear view mirror.

BBBAAAAHHHHHAAAAAHHAAA, I would love to see a pic of that, a guage hanging from the rear view mirror.

Some people have stuck them on top of the dash, one even hung it by the rear view mirror. get the rear view mirror with the built-in LCD.. and then hook up the LCD to an HKS CAMP to show you all the gauges you want.. very slick: See my idea come to life here: Mirror: http://www.jcwhitney.com/wcsstore/jcwhitney/images/imagecache/10006577.gif http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/showCustom-0/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2008391/c-10101/Nty-1/p-2008391/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10101/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=lcd%20rear%20view%20mirror Electronic Gauges: http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/6520/campimage8cd.jpghttp://img127.imageshack.us/img127/1764/campanalogimage7rs.gifhttp://img127.imageshack.us/img127/1690/campdigitalimage6ok.gif http://cgi.ebay.com/HKS-CAMP-RX7-GTR-R34-R33-RX8-GT-Skyline-Supra-S15-200sx_W0QQitemZ4579109780QQcategoryZ32624QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Why clutter all your windshield space with all the guages when you can do it this way? Yeah, it's $$$ the way I am doing it, but hey, it's the price you pay for uniqueness and subtleness. Keefe
IwannaSportSedan
I'd consider doing that with a 7" touchscreen mounted in a NAV bezel in place of the center cubby. No NAV, just the screen in the dash, like nav, with that HKS Camp setup in the glovebox shelf... Although it would be nice if they cleaned up the user interface. (maybe it is adjustable, I haven't looked into it closely yet) it looks awfully "Windows 3.1" I think it would be an awful lot of information to show in the little 2" diagonal LCD in the mirror. That would be like trying to read it on an iPod or something.
