KIWILEG
O the scenario is .. I have a 1998 GTB legacy wagon(Bh5A) auto . The oppurtunity to purchase a 01 legacy wagon manual (stuffed engine). I am keen as to have a manual and was wondering if it is as easy as taking my motor out of my auto and doing a straight swap into the manual. IF not what would the pitfalls be or would i be better off swapping the manual gear into my auto. Cheers
fahr_side
I'd swap the good motor into the manual car of course, much much easier. One thing to watch out for is the timing belt. There's a little metal guide plate to keep the timing belt on the crankshaft pulley on manual cars. It isn't there on automatics. On a manual, if you were to let the car roll backwards while in gear and with the engine not running, you can easily skip the belt on the crankshaft pulley if the plate is missing. It's part #1 in the diagram below. Part number is 13145AA001 or 13145AA020. http://static.opposedforces.com/epc_img/566495001302.png Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.
