sketron1
So I've pulled apart my vf40. The car has 130k miles, stage 2 for maybe 10k, meticulously maintained by both the previous owner and myself. I've got everything apart when I notice a crack that doesn't extend completely through wall. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160327/c3de2b1e938ca50d29c5ccbc1446846f.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160327/fdb99805c02cbf585c6b143420409a41.jpg This is my first rebuild, and I have seen something about boost creep with these models. Is this the area that can be smoothed out to help prevent boost creep? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
sketron1
Here's the bearings after 130k. Light scoring on the OD of one, but not bad for the mileage. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160327/41e3601bfd3d3ebf994d605ab89dcf07.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160327/c781bf4b120508846172425573317956.jpg Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
iNVAR
You're not going to have to worry about boost creep on a vf40.
sketron1
About the crack, any better ideas other than blend it out? It's apparently enough wall thickness since the crack hasn't propagated through wall. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
fahr_side
Blend it out or ignore. Nothing is going to happen. Sent from a device using some software. Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.
