Started off a few months ago with a cylinder 1 misfire. After swapping coil packs around, injectors, and plugs I ended up doing a compression test and leak down test.

Cyl 4...140psi 2% leakdown

Cyl 3...136psi 3% leakdown

Cyl 2...137psi 2% leakdown

Cyl 1...60psi 50% leakdown

Ended up being a burnt exhaust valve on cylinder 1. So after I had a buddy tear it down at his shop I sent them out to Eastwoods Machine shop in Somers, CT.

So then I started putting together a parts list for this basic rebuild of just getting heads refinished and reworked.

Free Range Ancillary hoses

Head Rebuild

OEM Gasket kit 1015AA720

Gates Timing Belt Kit TCK328

OEM Waterpump 21111AA240(cast impeller.)

Oem Half Moons 11051AA070

OEM Oil Control Valves 10921AA020

OEM Spark Plugs NGK SILFR6A 22401AA670

OEM Oil Cooler Pipe 21328AA011

OEM Long Life Coolant SOA868V9210

OEM Coolant Conditioner SOA635071(Discontinued, and have yet to actualy buy some.)

OEM Thermostat 21210AA030

OEM Oil Filter 15208AA12A

Then I went onto nasioc, and happened to have found a brand new ej257 block for a great price and decided...why not? So then my parts list grew

OEM EJ257 10103AC050

OEM STI Oil Pan 11109AA151

OEM Legacy Oil Pump 15010AA300

Moroso Oil Pump Pickup 24965

ARP Head Studs 260-4701

Grimmspeed Exhaust Gaskets

DW 1000CC Sidefeed Injectors

DW 300C Fuel pump

Reason I went for the dw injectors and pump was because I am either planning on going over to E85 if it becomes more readily available, and going to a bigger turbo once funds allow.

Car is going to have that, and it already has:

Perrin turbo inlet

AVO throttle body hose

BNR 16G (my stock injectors were running 105% IDC uptop)

Bulletproof OEM TMIC

CNT Catless DP

3" Catless axleback

STI Catless Up Pipe

Infamous Oil Lines

NO BANJOS

After talking to Byron on the forums I decided to go with Mike for tuning from Tuning Alliance. I will be getting a street tune after I get ~500 miles on the break-in tune from him.

Grand Total:

~$5,700

Thats including tune, getting heads done at eastwoods($550,) and paying a buddy who owns a shop to pull the engine out and take it apart, and torque and reinstall heads and do timing and put the engine back in.(~800)
