My 05 GT Limited

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I've been using the forum since I've owned a legacy and made an account not too long ago. Most of my information about my car came from reading over countless threads on this site. I figured it's about time to make a thread introducing my car. I'm going to lay out all the mods that come to mind and keep this thread updated as I add more.

Day 1

This is how my car came to me. Nearly dead stock minus replacement parts, Rotas and some decently executed interior paint

Pre-mod

sat like this with rims only for about a month before the modbug bit

Damn! That's an impressive amount of mileage. Would love to hear how she holds up on you. I would love to drive my car will into the 200Ks. I bought another LGT that was crashed locally so I'll have a spare engine, tranny, and diff in case anything goes. Great to see!

Pretty sure the car came with tan interior and the P.O. painted/dyed the seats, door cards, ebrake boot, carpet, cupholders, arm rest, and a couple more areas. I've been working on replacing the parts that have any obvious paintwork and have swapped all the wood trim

Why thank you . She sits nice for the mileage that's for sure, could most definitely use some dent removal and a fresh layer of paint though... It'll feel good having easy access to those parts if/when you need em. I'll keep this thread updated with pictures, issues, projects, etc.

Some pictures from last weekend when a few friends and I did some back road cruising and hit the drag strip.

Didn't race the camaro, but I did a run with the lancer and the 02 wagon. For both I had a bit less than a quarter tank of gas. Lancer was no problem, it has a slushbox transmission and is pretty slow. Beat the WRX (turboback, intake, tune) but not by near as much.

Have them take a good light and look at the bottom of the engine by the passenger side valve cover for a oil leak, its common on these cars.

Went yesterday, said the oil level was low but nothing super bad. Then said there was oil everywhere. They didn't diagnose the leak location yesterday but they put some dye in that they say should help when they go in with a uv light at my appt. on Thursday. I'll tell them to check there first.

Went for the dye check-up/diagnosis yesterday. Bad news.

Said they didn't go looking deep at all once they saw all the oil right by the turbo(Kwik Kar doesn't do work on turbos). They suggested taking it to the dealer for a full run down to get a specific diagnosis.

Worried of the worst.

Hmm it might not be that bad yet. Get it fully checked out. I had a similar issue where the oil return line of the turbo started coating everything in oil.

I bought an auto be more involved in my uninvolvedness . 200k+ Club

If you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

My high mileage turd.

Got my car back from my mechanic yesterday, good news for now. Turns out the main oil leak was just the drain plug gasket- Kwik Kar :( -replaced that and also fixed up a couple small oil leaks they found. No more oil smell so far.

He checked out the turbo and said it seemed fine although was leaking a very small amount of oil. He said if I am worried I should take it to the dealer for a turbo-specific diag.

I'm happy for now having taken care of the leaks and when I go in for my recall work in the beginning of April I'll probably have the dealer check the turbo out.
