Skimpy Interior Lighting on Legacy GT

Has anyone noticed the lack of courtesy lights in the interior of the 05 Legacy GT? It is really dark in there! I'd like to know if it is possible to program the map lights to come on when the doors are opened. I welcome your thoughts and comments :|

No I don't notice at all - I think there are too many interior lights in the car - 2 on the roof, 2 map lights, one on each side of the door, and one on each sun visor. I certainly don't need that many.

Is your car a wagon with sunroof? Mine is and the dome light is way in the back seat. I'd like to rewire the map lights to come on with the dome- it really is dark in there.

I too would like to rewire the map lights to come on when the door is opened. That would really shed some light on the situation!

*rimshot* I'd like to do the same, but I'm afraid of messing with the headliner due to the side airbags.

I don't have dual moonroofs, but even in the sedan I noticed that the stock lighting is dim at best. So, I put a $5 PIAA bulb in the dome light and it made a BIG difference not only in illuminance but also in color tone. Here's a pic that doesn't do the light justice b/c it was still daylight outside:

It would be especially bad if it was one of those blue-coated bulbs.

The bulb glass is tinted slighty blue, but that doesn't make the light blue, just more white.

Mini Neon tubes would do it.. do a clean install using WHITE neon tubes (less Ricey, and it matches the white illuminscent of the rest of the gauges.. goto www.streetglow.com to pick your sizes.. Keefe
LOL Jedi, I think that would that would totally ROCK, set of blue neons under the car and in the car, very Paul Walker!
How much for some neon? "More than you can afford pal"

Are you guys serious on the in-car neon lighting? I can't tell if you guys are being sarcastic or not? I didn't want to post anything for fear of rice flaming, but I've already added two 12" red cold-cathode lights underneath the front seats. Not only did it cost just $15 (mostly b/c it's adapted from PC lighting), but the light looks brighter and more even, the light sticks are only 3mm thick, and it runs a whole lot colder than neons. HERE is a link for the cold cathodes ($5) and HERE is a link for the PC-to-car power adapter ($10). Routing the wires is very simple and tidy since there is a power receptacle in the center console bin.

LOL Jedi, ahh have to love that scene, fantastic!!!! Grand Tourer, yeah u wont get flamed here, alot of ppl will end up doing it as long as it is the right sort of neons and not the POV ones that dont light up the way they should, yeah u know the ones...... Sounds pretty good what you have done though, under car may be going abit far but it sure looks pretty trick. Check out XenonK's link for streetglow if u want the real deal. Changing bulbs might be the best one brady, see how you go after that but not sure there is any real quick fix and besides, I thought U liked Stelth mode anyway?

I'm talking about just getting into and out of the car... you know... "courtesy lights". There's one on the trailing edge of the doors. That kind of stuff. I'm not talking flash, bling, or 2F2F drive around with the lights on kinds of lighting. :)
