tarheels23
My cars for 154k miles on it and I keep fighting with p2096 codes. A while ago when I got my car and took the anti fouler out I got a p0420 so i put the anti fouler back in , replaced both o2 sensors and car went for 4-5k miles cel free and started getting the 2096 code again. So if/when I replace my cat, is there a universal cat that I can buy and have an exhaust shop cut the old one off and weld in a new one or is it just easier to buy the whole header/cat assembly and if so which brand is recommended. So I've been reading and don't seem to have symptoms of a clogged cat. Cars not sluggish, exhaust has plenty of pressure if I hold a rag on both exhaust tips and doesn't smell like rotten eggs
GEE-OTTO
https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=5270208&cc=1440455&jnid=395&jpid=3 If you have the P0420 and you have new sensors the cat is the issue. The foulers aren't helpful in fact they slightly hurt the fueling but nothing fatal. Just replace the converter and live happy.
tarheels23
So you just recommend the walker then? I just want sure if any of the 4 brands had better quality than others
GEE-OTTO
My current converter is a Walker that I bought via RockAuto fit and finish and that of the OEM part. But you can also consider the Bosal unit, both have the same cell count, light-off rating and mileage warranty.
