Is there a cheaper alternative to new cat?

Recommended Posts

My cars for 154k miles on it and I keep fighting with p2096 codes. A while ago when I got my car and took the anti fouler out I got a p0420 so i put the anti fouler back in , replaced both o2 sensors and car went for 4-5k miles cel free and started getting the 2096 code again. So if/when I replace my cat, is there a universal cat that I can buy and have an exhaust shop cut the old one off and weld in a new one or is it just easier to buy the whole header/cat assembly and if so which brand is recommended.

So I've been reading and don't seem to have symptoms of a clogged cat. Cars not sluggish, exhaust has plenty of pressure if I hold a rag on both exhaust tips and doesn't smell like rotten eggs
