96 outback hard to start

Recommended Posts

Need some opinions on this. Just bought a96 outback, 195k miles, ej22 motor. Runs and idles flawlessly. It isf a real sob to get started. Doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm. Cranks a lot and depressing the throttle seems to help the situation. It stumbles a little then goes back to running great. Checked the timing marks, looks to be spot on. Im pretty sure the car sat a lot the last two years, changed the plugs, pcv, and fuel filter. Purged out some of the old gas through the fuel line, added some 95 octane and seafoam. I think I'm going to change the coolant temp sensor, and if that doesn't work, look at a new fuel pump possibly. Thoughts?
