tarheels23
I'm looking for help to end this extremely frustrating crap with this p2096 code. I had already replaced both o2 sensors and maybe 5k miles later the cel started coming back on. It's only came on once while I was not on the highway. Usually it pops up while I have the cruise control on while driving on the freeway. I do have an antifouler on the rear o2 sensor and if I remove it I end up getting the p2040 or whatever code andwant to see if anyone has found a solution. All the other threads that pop up on Google and for the turbo models
GEE-OTTO
You have already found your problem your just over looking it 1. Remove that anti fouler it's causing the P2096 and hiding the real problem. 2. You have a failed or failing catalytic converter as evident by throwing the P0420 every time you remove that anti fouler. 3. You get the P0296 bc the anti-fouler moves the O2 so far out of the stream of exhaust gases the ECU teeters between leaning out the mix and running normally. 4. Replacement concerts will to less than $400 new
tarheels23
So if I'm looking towards replacing the headers/cat are there any cheaper options than $330+? Rock auto has the cheapest prices. And to the anti fouler, everywhere I read said to just leave it there to avoid annoying issues like the p0420 code
