Alexander-
Hello, The shifter on my 06 Legacy Wagon has a sloppy feel to it, so it has to be fixed. I have found a shifter bushing kit by Prothane part number 16-1602. Some websites claims it fits the 06 Legacy, others claim it doesn't. Has anyone ever tried it on their Gen 4 Legacy? Does it improve gear shifting? Does it remove any play while in gear? Here is a link to it on eBay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/16-1602-Prothane-Poly-5-Speed-Manual-Trans-Shifter-Bushing-Kit-Fits-Subaru-/191249963062 Thanks! ashwinearl
One of the first things I did was put in a Kart Boy shifter bushing set and then almost immediately went with their short throw shifter in combination with it. I think the Legacy 5speed has such long throws to begin with that a short throw helps. Even with the short throw shifter, the throw from 4th to 5th is still a long one. regardless, just the right bushings will help a lot with the slop in the shifter some of which is part of the stock design and some might be from age.
