Surfcast23
I had a lose vacuum line which had the car running bad, I was limping it to a parking lot so I could try and fix it . I had to keep the RPMS high to get it to move. I got to a lot fixed the issue and the car started fine. The clutch worked and I put it into gear but it would not move. I turned it off and Sat for a while then tried again. This time it stated to move, but only when the RPMS got high.I pulled over again and turned it off. With the engine off the clutch feels normal and it goes into gear, but once I turn the car on the clutch has less resistance and the car won't go into gear. Surfcast23
Was able to get it to my city, but now it just goes into gear but won't engage. I had my mechanic buddy take a look and he thinks the clutch blew. Opinions? I if did blow should I upgrade and if so suggestions.
apexi
Sounds like the clutch disc could be stuck to the flywheel, broken clutch fork, or a busted clutch like your mechanic suggested. What clutch, and how many miles on it, any idea? I don't a lot about clutch/MT operation, but just wanted to throw this out there as a possibility, to get you up and running. I would try what GTEASER says below first, hoping the disc is just stuck to the flywheel. You're not going anywhere when you sidestep the clutch. Engine off. Depress clutch pedal. Slide foot off pedal and let it pop up on its own. Do this a few times and it should break the disc free from the flywheel. Surfcast23
I tried the side step with no luck. I'm the third owner so I have no idea, the car is stock.

Matt166
Sounds like you burned the clutch out while you were slipping it trying to keep revs high. I changed to a wrx flywheel and exedy clutch. Pm underdog, he will get you the right parts
edmarkaleman
If the clutch was going bad it you would still be able to put it into gear but as you describe it I'd say it is a slave cylinder that has gone bad. Surfcast23
How would one test the slave cylinder?
apexi
I don't think it's the slave cylinder, but when you push the clutch pedal in, you should see this guy pushing the clutch fork. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=68696&d=1243755594 Image borrowed from the thread below http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/replacing-clutch-slave-cylinder-113408.html Also check for any signs of fluid leaking while you're in there. I had a very very small leak coming from my hydraulic clutch hose at around 155k.

edmarkaleman
To test the slave cylinder you would depress the clutch pedal and have someone to outside and watch if it is working. It should push the clutch fork in. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
