Adam7284
Over the past weekend I took a trip in my 05 LGT (completely stock) with about 109k miles on it. Anyways, I started hearing almost a rattling noise from the front of the car. It seemed to go away when warmed up. I attached below a sound clip of it. https://youtu.be/uHEYftKueqg
Max Capacity
I'd pull the timing belt cover and check the idler pulleys first. wasn't the timing belt and kit just replaced ? it's do at 105,000 miles. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. I would also replace all of the idler pulleys and water pump as you are due for a t-belt
starionesir
Did you check the pulleys on the accessory drive? I've seen some idlers make some crazy noises but usually don't go away once warm.
Adam7284
Yeah, I'll check it out. But I had the timing belt and water pump replaced with a Gates Kit as soon as I hit 100k though.
YeuEmMaiMai
^ gates are not that good IMHO, my car had one on it and it had a recommended change mileage of 62K whaaaaaaa? Subaru is 105K
INTP_ty
If it is piston slap, don't listen to the Internet experts when they say you need to drop 3k on a rebuild. They had me all worried after my rebuild. 125k miles later, compression is fine. Just a thought
YeuEmMaiMai
I would not rebuild due to piston slap, however I did have to have a reseal done and I had them correct the issue at the same time
