To rebuild or not?

Recommended Posts

My brother just bought his first Subaru and it is a 2003 2.5 GT wagon in quite nice shape however the transmission is making a lot of noise and two very trustworthy but not a Subie specialists shop have informed him that the car is not worth the money of a compete rebuild. The gents have stated that if he can find a used transmission with less than 200k, Km's here lads as we live in the Great White North - Canada for those who don't know the reference, that this would be the only way to go. I own a 2011 Legacy 3.6R sedan and do not have the transmission experience in Subaru to say emphatically one thing or the other in terms of the rebuild or used issue here and would like some of the well seasoned lads to weigh in and provide your input if you wouldn't mind.

Pete.

I agree with Osei, car-parts.com is an excellent source, I've bought several items from different dismantlers from that site. May want to checkout several dismantlers up there in Canada to see if you can find one close by to save cost.
My wife's balls are delicious.
