Connecting rod on 98 Legacy GT

Recommended Posts

If it's spun, then by the time the rod side is polished, the original size may not fit.

You won't know until it's done.

Unless you have nothing but time, it's less labor to swap a 2.2 in it. Doing the necessary t belt, idlers, separator plate and retightening of the oil pump screws while it's out.

okay, I got the engine back together and back in, but now it will not start. Turns over fine, and I checked the spark with a tester that lays on the plug wires and that seems fine, which leads me to fuel. Do I need to bleed the fuel system somehow? The tank indicated that it was empty, but I put a couple gallons in and still not starting. It started okay before I pulled the engine. I have looked at all the electrical connections, and I think they are are hooked up, and in the right place. Any suggestions?

Check the large hose from the IAC to the air intake.

O,

Nope, it is hooked up. I did pull a plug this morning and it was completely dry, so fuel looks to be the issue. I pulled the line from the fuel filter and there is definitely fuel getting there. Is there a voltmeter test I can do for the wires to the injectors?

look up light noid test. (not for our cars but the process is the same.

and read this: (not for our cars but all the testing is the same)

use the Ohms mode on the multi meter and it will help you out.

to be sure its fuel related first try using carb cleaner or starter fluid and spraying it down your intake manifold. ive even used brake clean and or let a propane torch leak down into it. so then if it almost starts or does start you know for sure.

maybe check the psi before and after your fuel filter first.

Okay, I did the starting fluid thing and it started right away, so definitely a fuel issue. I can not hear the fuel pump running, but I don't have anyone to turn the key on for me so I can listen at the gas cap. I did pull the return fuel line, ( the medium sized one with the clamp on it) and there was no gas coming out of it, which I would expect, unless I don't understand the system. I did check for voltage at the injectors with the key on, and got

volts.

Does anyone know where the fuel relay is at? I looked online and there were several conflicting suggestions.
