Jdubgt530
So I have the older style tensioner that is the two piece design. What I was wondering is if it is possible to make mine work with a one piece tensioner like on 98 and up. I believe they started in 98. The reason why I ask is because I have a brand new one just sitting around and I personally like that style better then the two piece design tensioner
Osei
All you need is the bracket. Junkyard or I could send you one for postage. O.
Jdubgt530
Sweet that would be awesome! So it's just the removable bracket that the tensioner bolts to
Jdubgt530
How much for postage to send it my way? I live in Cali
Osei
Pm me your address and I'll ship it you. NP One question, I am assuming you still have a dohc engine in your car. There are two bracket styles, one that has the high tab for the dohc engines and one for the sohc type. O.

johnegg
FYI: in my opinion, the old style is more reliable and usually lasts a lot longer than just one belt interval. and cost less.
Jdubgt530
I just want to do the swap because mine is slowly failing and I have the one piece design. Also easier to install the belt.
bjkroll
Not sure why you would want to do that... I find the old style very easy to work with.
Jdubgt530
I find it way harder because of the installation of the belt. I personally like the one piece better. But we have our rights to our own opinions. Just trying to save some money since I have a one piece tensioner already. Won't have to spend money on a two piece
monkeyposeur
Two piece is better. It's not any easier to install the belt with the one piece if you are following the FSM procedure. Install the lower left idler bearing last.
