garageboy
Looking at an 06 Legacy. 105k. Owner says "The car makes a little irritating sound when driving super slow but NOT when driving average speeds or free way speeds. Mechanic quoted it to be 'heat shield' problem and it costs less than 60$ to fix/repair it. " My questions are: 1. Could this really be the heat shield? Or something more involved? 2. If it really is the heat shield, is $60 a fair repair estimate? Owner replaced the engine oil, transmission oil, rear and front differential fluids ( for AWD), washer fluid and steering fluids and changed the rear disc brakes and rotors, Timing Belt, Tensioner, Water Pump, and Timing Belt Cover. Thank you very much.
uptown4784
yeah sounds like is a heat shield. This usually happens a lot with a legacy. The dealer was going to charge me 20 bucks. but I told them no so they did it for free
Ellesedil
If it's only 60 bucks, why can't the owner fix it before selling you the car?
