slowurroll
That is supposed to say trunk picture in the title. Can I get a mod to change that pretty please? Can someone take a picture of their sedan trunk for me? I just picked up my 05 2.5i Ltd last week and believe there is a piece missing. See here: http://i61.tinypic.com/7260yx.jpg What I am looking for is the piece that would go where you can see that gap. This car was rear ended at one point and I believe that is why it is not there. I will be forever grateful for your help!
iampetro
I don't think anything is missing I think that is just a gap between the top of the bumper and the edge of the trunk The gap is there because as u said, the car was rear ended and the bumper was either not fixed or not re-attached properly I don't know for sure though I've never removed my rear bumper + I have a wagon
slowurroll
I am honestly wondering if the internal parts so the trunk may have been pushed in when it was hit. However, the is no issues with the trunk shutting and when closed, everything looks to be lined up without a problem. I just can't figure out why there is the gap. I saw this pic on Google which is why I thought something might be missing. But I wanted to verify if this was really the case. http://www.carparts.com/roadtests/subarulegacy/Images/Trunk.jpg Now I could also just be seeing things and feeling hopeful. But I figured I would check.
Mike07LGT
Looks to me like damage caused the gap... 03 WRB WRX (RIP) 04 JBP STI (sold) 07 DGM Legacy GT (RIP) 12 OBP STI (DD)
slowurroll
I'm guessing that as well at this point. Hmm. I don't know if there will be anything I can do about it at this point. Might have to take it to a body shop to see what they say.
Custom Trendz Inc.
Had the same damage after I got rear ended. New bumper skin+paint+pulling of the trunk was about $2500. But my trunk did not close either, with the same ammount of damage in your picture.
slowurroll
Hm. Well mine closes so I'm not overly concerned with it. But I am wondering if pulling the trunk is all that would need to be done here. I guess I could always remove the bumper cover and scope out the damage. Maybe that will shed some light on what is causing the gap. It was repaired to an extent, obviously, but every time I open my trunk it drives me insane. travrach
Get 2 full size adults and grab the area with the black plastic cover (water bottles touching) and both pull at the same time- it will pull back no problem. I had that black cover off checking something one time and that metal is real, real thin. I'm sure you can pull it back.
slowurroll
Interesting. I will have to do that soon to see if I can get it pulled back. Were you able to get it back to the stock look without much of an issue then?

Max Capacity
Thanks, that's what I was going for... LOL Someday when the humidity drops, I'll load my wagon on the trailer behind the old Ford and take a picture. A few weeks back I put a real hitch on the old truck and the brake controller kit. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).
