Andy_Mac
Read through this thread and then ask any remaining questions there. Whats the offset of those wheels? Get the feeling they only do a lowish offset for that model, maybe in the mid 30's. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/faq-offsets-sizes-rims-and-tires-gt-xenonk-version-4426.html And 215's will look crap unless you're into the hella stretched look. Even 235 rubber sits a bit in from the lip of the rim This is mine sitting on 18x8.5 +47 with 235/40/18 looks like with 1 degree of camber for the front. Its currently fine at stock height but if lowered will definately need more camber/ rolled fenders. You need adjustable arms or bushings for the rear to get any camber adjustment though. Not confirmed yet but have been looking into whether camber adjusted from the top gives different results to camber adjusted at the bottom. 1.5 degrees resulting from the top arm being pulled in will give you more fender clearance than 1.5 degrees resulting from the bottom arms being extended. Thats my theory atleast, haven't come across any real data backing this up yet http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o594/andy_mac1/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsqndx7qml.jpg 2000 Legacy B4 RSK - SOLD 2006 Legacy BP5 GT Spec B wagon - Garage Thread 2011 VW T5 van 2.0L of turbo diesel awesomeness
EXO
Go with the 225. It's the closest match to stock.
MPacMan15
SI have 18x8.5 et45 enkei kojins on my car with tein h techs and 225/40 continental extreme contact dws06. There was a good amount of rubbing so I rolled the rears.if you do want a mild stretch go with 225s every tire stretches differently but mine left the lip of the rim poking out maybe a 1/4 of an inch or so. My fronts do stick out so if I were to go lower I would have to roll the fenders for sure.
quick4dr
not to start sounding rude, but these rookie fitment questions are killing me. people need to start putting in the hours to read the stickies and other popular topics and learn these cars! i love sharing knowledge but jeese. either size will work however both will be hard rides. i ran 235/40/18 on 18x8.5 + 42 no rubbing on coils
whitetiger
OP never stated the offset of the wheels he is using. that will play a big roll is fitment. and +1 to what quick4dr said about rookies.
boxkita
moved to tires section where this belongs. And where if you click on the forum section link you'll see the stickies that will answer your question. In the interest of speeding things along, here's the direct link to the relevant thread - http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/faq-offsets-sizes-rims-and-tires-gt-xenonk-version-4426.html . In direct answer to your question and comments by others, 225 was not the stock size nor was 18x8.5. To obtain best performance (assuming that's why you want such a wide rim on a stock suspension), 18x8 with 225 would be best. Even better would be stepping up to a summer performance tire (which is stickier for better handling/braking). However, given your question of putting on 215's on a 8.5 width rim, performance is the least important thing on your list. I'd suggest 205 on a 9.5 rim for optimal herrafrush look. However, the tires will stick out 2 inches more than stock. http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=215&aspect=45&diameter=17&wheelwidth=7&offset=55&width2=215&aspect2=40&diameter2=18&wheelwidth2=8.5&offset2=22#content - no it wont hit the shock/springs. However, the tires will stick out 2 inches more than stock. your wheel bearings will wear out much faster. Any sort of weight will cause rubbing in the rear You'll have tire to inner fender contact when turning. However, statically, it will fit. I expect you to donate now [click here], as I saved you the reading/research/thought processes on this whole decision.
